Catwalks, as I call it, or Runway fashions are showing a distinct 1990’s look. Small braids, pig tails and pony tails are back in style. We are seeing the baggy jeans and Doc Martens around town again especially in Europe and some of our larger cosmopolitan cities. We are seeing obvious hair accessories with visible hair ties and bobby pins to create functional but mature coifs.
The key is sophistication, Zulu knots, pins and braids are all over the prominent catwalks right now. Keeping clients updated in this look using sleek pins in monochromatic colors is right here in Castle Rock! Looks for fall this year are very much heading in the ‘mussed-up’ do. The “I just got out of bed look” can be worrisome for some but just know you are setting the trend for this year. Far from being unkempt and unprofessional, the latest looks show waves of loose curls that appear carefree, cool and effortlessly chic. Sometimes called the ‘beach to ball’ look which can look great on younger women. It will complement this season’s fashion rather than detracting from it. This type of look can be worn anywhere, anytime and to any occasion. ‘Modern Amish’ is hitting the catwalks. Country girl meets urban glamor. Again from clothing to hair we want to show how these contrasting forces can coexist.
Single cornrow braid along the center part with the rest of the hair flowing loosely is quite catching to the eye. Loose pig tails showing the messy texture are coming around again and and highlight shoulders and neck lines. Now these styles once associated with elementary school hair do’s are showing up in top fashion magazines.
Colors this season are again two tones. Dark and light combinations, eye catching shades or stark color contrasts. It can be subtle or bold. Women are able to express their sense of style through the color of their hair.
